Chapter 25: Closing the Dragnet


    When the waters surrounding Royalton Peninsula fall to low tide at 1:27 AM, the magicians resume human form and push a stolen boat into the Joan River.  
     Fairies are watching from above, the Royalton Police are organized on the riverbank, and mermaids, melusines, and naiads are in the water.  They wait until the magicians are well away from the shore.  Then they make their move.
      As mermaids begin singing to mesmerize the magicians into helplessness, naiads and melusines swim toward the boat.  When a naiad's hand slips on the boat's gunwale, one magician nearly snaps out of his trance.  The naiad uses her mesmerizing eyes to keep the magician entranced.  
     Once the magicians are drawn back to shore, one naiad and one policeman is assigned to each magician.  The naiad keeps the magician entranced until the policeman snaps the "snap hand cops" (that's what handcuffs were called at that time) on him.  Once the hand cops wer in place, the magician no longer had any power to change his form. Thus, the magicians and Henderson Hook are captured.
     By various means, peace and prosperity are restored, RICO is dissolved, and Ghasan the Assassin is forgiven and allowed to return to his home in Meinong's Jungle.

Chapter 12: Amelia's Mermaid Coming of Age

      Finally Amelia came of age and rose to the surface.  She was very late returning home and would speak to no one about her journey.  She clearly carried some unspoken sorrow.      A friendly singing crab that called herself Lolita  Detritivore tried to cheer her up by singing a song about singing your troubles away.   A seagull swooped down and snatched up the crab and took her away to feed her young.  No amount of singing would save poor Lolita  Detritivore.      Eventually, she broke down and told everything to her oldest sister N'Shal.     The remainder of the chapter describes a party taking place aboard the royal yacht, a three-masted schooner called The Eidolon.    A storm is coming up.
